[av_dropcap2 color=”default”]H[/av_dropcap2]ap moo do, a martial art, is a combination of tae kwon do, hap ki do and ju do.Hap moo do is founded on justice, morality, wisdom, knowledge and manners.It can make a person physically and mentally strong. Hap moo do students can protect themselves and help bring peace to the world.

As times change, martial arts must change. Old-style martial arts have quickly become out of step with the modern world. People have less time. Technology has changed. Martial arts created long ago have less relevance.

But the old martial arts still have much to offer. Tae kwon do teaches speed and kicks, ju do has throws and sweeps, and hap ki do has joint locks.

Hap moo do takes the best of these martial arts and combines them to produce a superior martial art. In a short period, Hap moo do practitioners learn techniques which build confidence, good health and power. The study of hap moo do also leads to a clear mind and greater respect for others.

Hap moo do can be used by all regardless of age or gender.

As with any physical activity, one must continually practice to attain top proficiency. When attacked, any defense must be swift and automatic. If you pause to think of what technique to use, it is too late because you have already been hit. So, even though it may be possible to learn the basic framework of hap moo do in a short period, students must continue to practice until hap moo do techniques become instinctive. “Practice makes perfect and permanent.”

Hap moo do was started and developed in 1973 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, U.S.A. by Master Joseph H. Park.
